Puffins on the Wind, Norwegian coast illustration

Two puffins flying home along a wild coast. A larger one climbs, a smaller one skims low over the water with its bright feet reaching down, both heading toward the black basalt shore and the mountains beyond.

Puffins on the Wind captures the moment two puffins return from a day at sea. The larger bird rides the wind higher, the smaller one glides just above the waves, feet almost touching the water. The coast is quiet and stark, all black rock and white foam, and the only warm colors in the whole scene are their orange beaks and feet.

The scene isn't a specific place. It's a distilled coastal moment, drawn from countless mornings along the wild North Atlantic, where puffins nest on cliffs from Norway to Iceland. Somewhere between the two, where the land turns dark and the sea breaks white.

The illustration is printed on an aluminium plate, which is very durable as the illustration is directly sublimated (at a high temperature and under pressure). The metal plate is 3 mm thick in total: it consists of two solid metal plates with a polyethylene core, which provides extra strength.

There is an invisible mounting system which creates a depth effect because of its distance from the wall.
