The Arctic is often spoken of as one thing. "Lapland." "The North." A place you visit, or you don't.
But it isn't one thing at all.
A husky sled travels through the changing light of a single winter day. A snowmobile shows you how vast the wilderness really is. A reindeer meets you at eye level and takes lichen from your hand. The aurora appears differently in every season. A humpback whale rises for one second in a Northern Norwegian bay. A kayak glides through the golden midnight sun.
Each adventure reveals a different version of the North. The light changes. The pace changes. What you notice changes.
These six adventures form my Arctic Adventures collection: six small series of illustrations, drawn from six winters at a boutique hotel in Finnish Lapland and many summers and winters along the Norwegian coast. Six ways of seeing the Arctic through the eyes of the artist.
